cellshading step by step!

Gaia cellshading commissions, for Lozaurus (Gaia)

sorry just 4 pics taken -_-; i'll put more next time!

1) wip 2) Photobucket
3) wip 4) cellshading

1) rough sketch as always. i did this in A5 paper (half of A4)

2) *jumping* i dunno how to teach lining, since mine stinks (look for urself ^^; ), once it's clean and u felt no curves are on, make selection (magic wand if on Photoshop) outside the character, u cud see here if there's an open curve or not, if so, close it. invert selection then paint bucket on different layer than the outline, with any color.

3) lock transparency on the paintbucket-ed layer, and begin to color each part with different color(i use 1 layer for every base color) tips: dont forget to put neutral color for background, i dont use white coz i cudnt see mistakes clearly if it's white. moreover if i use pure white for some part, i cannot see if it's transparent or not. shading on 1 new layer, omg still rough yes. but it's almost done, dude!

4) a bit polishing and texturing for her leggings (coz im so lazy), adding gradient to overall character (this tech stolen from Soejima-illustrator of Persona 3 and 4 lol lol), color balance and clear! voila~ :) hope it helps!!

the chibis below the sketches are not mine, it's a gaia avatar.

*edit : i separate wips for each work in order to make the post shorter :D
